The main objectives of Teaching Buddhist Monks Program is to give opportunities to those who wants teach English to monks in return receiving a rewarding experience and knowing their way of life.

The main objectives of Teaching Buddhist Monks Program is to give opportunities to those who wants teach English to monks in return receiving a rewarding experience and knowing their way of life. As a volunteer you will be placed in a monastery where you will teach English to monks for 1 to 3 hours a day. Depending on monastery size you will expect the number of students 12 to 35 with moderate or beginners level English. The monks study Buddhist as a major subject in Tibetan language. English, Nepalese and others are optional in order to improve their additional language skill. In some monasteries they have English subject curriculum so you will follow the curriculum if you like to use your own teaching methodology then you can use it. The monastery which does not have any curriculum then you will use your own lesson plan that would be appropriate for kids. If you don’t have any teaching experience and skills then don’t worry you will receive intensive course during your orientation. Morning and late evening time is free. If you love Buddhism, this is the perfect time to join meditation, rituals, prays, and songs with the Buddhist monks. This project gives perfect opportunities to immerse in Buddhist religion and lifestyle.

As a volunteer in teaching English to Buddhist Monks project, you will work in the monastery where you will teach English to the Monks. The monasteries are usually very spacious. A central building will house prayer room and the main altar. There will be other buildings for accommodation, eating, and studying. During the teaching, you will be encouraged to converse with monks to improve their speech. You can talk about things back home and ask them about their childhood and life as a monk. You will also teach them about grammar rules and try to increase their vocabulary. You must talk respectfully to the monks at all times. Is your little help change their life style.
